What is MGO?
Manuka honey is extracted and comes from the nectar of the Manuka flower (Leptospermum scoparium), which is native to New Zealand and East Australia. The nectar collected by the bees is what makes the Manuka honey special to provide you with compelling wellness properties.
The Methylglyoxal (MGO) is a dihydroxyacetone (DHA) compound found in Manuka Honey. The Manuka Honey is tested and graded into MGO levels using MGO grading system due to not every Manuka honey is developed equally. The MGO number marked on the product label will tell you how much MGO is in your Manuka honey jar.
